Guidelines for the Use of Digoxin Immune Fab (Digibind
®)
 

Digoxin immune Fab (Digibind®) is an antigen-binding agent used specifically as an antidote for digoxin toxicity.  The antigen-binding fragments (Fab) bind to unbound digoxin in intravascular and extracellular fluid.  Indications for use of this product at the University of Kentucky Hospital are found in the accompanying table.

              Digibind® Usage Guidelines

 

 

·         Life-threatening arrhythmias

 

·         Digoxin ingestion of > 10 mg (adults) or > 4 mg (children)

 

·         Steady-state digoxin concentration of >10 ng/ml

 

·         Potassium concentration >5 mEq/L in patients with manifestations of severe cardiac glycoside toxicity
